Adventures in gimp

So, I've been using gimp the past two days because I got my good laptop back from the shop. It won't let me install photoshop for some reason. Guess I'll keep it on my old laptop for now. I thought when I get more time I'll figure out the issue. Gimp has the basic things photoshop has, but the fun things I use to make clothes or banners aren't there. Only been doodling like below. I didn't like the bracelet i was wearing so i cleared it out then gave myself a new hand by using the clone and smudge tools. Importance of using the clone tool is to always remember the shape o what you're using and to make sure you keep the shades right. If you mess up, burn and dodge is good. I use highlights on skin. Looks funky in general until you use the smudge tool. You can smear around the shades until the hand looks right. Sometimes if you want you can use the blur tool. I've not needed it much. Gimp is okay for basic texture creations. Some things I like to use on clothes are not in gimp, so i still need photoshop. I may look into how to make clothes in gimp for fun.
I am searching for a job irl. Its keeping me busy. I'm only doing photos in my free time until i can get a job and get settled. I'll probably be sharing what i learn about clothes and textures as soon as I start back up again.

have a good day!

eh

Me/Naveh will be taking a break from blogging and sl temporarily. Just gotta take care of a lot of rl things. Will be posting more as soon as rl is in order. I did learn that ETSU has a digital media program that would help learn a lot of things about sl; animation, textures, etc. its pretty cool cause you can do literally anything for virtual enviroments. makes the creative and nerd sides of me cheer.

Bits and good screwups

So, I was screwing around with tattoos cause they don't take as much time up as clothes right now. One tattoo was 32 bit, and I didn't know it when i copied and transferred it onto a clothing template. The tattoo came out looking great, especially compared to the 8 bit ones i uploaded before.
This looked good uploading it so i wanted to see what would happen if i did it to one of my test shirts. Downside to this is a few things done to this test shirt won't shot. I do like some of the quality of the shirts. the dark grey ones are 32 bit and the light grey are 16 bit. The reason they are grey is i copied the grey overlay layer of the shirt to test it.

Oh yeah, fab free makes a great place to turn yourself into the other sex for pictures. Though for me it was sorta creepy to be a guy walking around with a female ao on :p Only changed the shape and the skin, so yeah still had girl pants on too.

3D model

I've been busy with rl so i haven't been working on designs. Well a tattoo or two, but not much. I was talking about the 3D object you can have in photoshop with someone tonight. It works very well in creating clothes and making them complete, even means fixing the seams so they look inline. Its a bit complex. I can't do it myself yet until I have a desktop. Laptops don't have the graphic ability yet. Give it a year or two then we'll talk laptops on this idea. :P Its a good idea and I hear it uploads grea.t the lady who does these videos are only good if you know photoshop or french. both might be good. i can only keep up with so much and she goes way too fast for me....but it does show how good this model works. I'm actually pondering making tutorials myself when I get my skills going. :p

for now, here's the video
